When I talk about our country (Turkey)…

When do students think that they will feel understand the English language correctly? Learning English is an excellent resource for job opportunities and self-development for students. In this way, learning English should not solely be associated with teaching to be right or have lessons to travel through activities; however, students ought to be willing and patient to learn. Markedly, lowering the age of learning English, the significance of optimum English language learning and the benefits of starting English language instruction at an early age might guarantee students’ success.

Lowering the age of learning is a critical step in improving the intensity of English education, which is accessible for future students. In Turkey, the age of English education has been lowered from 4th grade to 2nd grade, and there is also a planning year with the introduction of more English courses for 5th grade. Notably, students have approximately 1300 hours of English education from the second grade of primary school to the 12th place of high school. Accordingly, students cannot say that students received the full value of such an intensive Turkish education. The more fun the English learning process is, the more tedious it is, the more successful the person becomes. Because during a challenging period of English education, if a person suffers from grammar and vocabulary, and excessive loading might be done in a short time, the information that they have learned will mix into each other, and the person will shelve the English education.

Throughout everyday life, professional qualifications, and work requirements, language is also an important part.

Furthermore, numerous parents want their children to learn their second language at a young age so that they can take them a step ahead and become more competitive in the future. Kids often try to mimic what they assert, close to knowing the first language, and then after a period of time, they will be able to speak simple sentences. Thus, children are more likely to speak a second language as native speakers. Mastering more than one language will improve the productivity of children for future applications for colleges and occupations. For example, the fear of making mistakes, which is often a barrier to the older beginners, sometimes delays younger students. Also, second language training enhances the ability to solve problems, think critically, and hear clearly, in addition to improving memory, concentration, and multitasking. On the other hand, there are also some disadvantages. Bilingual child’s drawbacks in learning English as a second language are as follows: the sense within which language is learned; once kids have expertise with a language, as they grow up, kids might concisely mix languages. Moreover, kids are engaged in a program of learning a foreign language when they are born because they may start speaking three to six months later. Not only for citizen children but also immigrants’ children have some difficulties while learning a second language. For example, they have the opportunity to receive education in their tongue, but the cycle of becoming bilingual has a severe impact, which makes the process itself long. Besides, bilingual students will be obliged to contend with the extra educational pressure of reading and writing in the first language; this implies double efforts to them.

Specifically, motivation is one of the primary factors that young learners need when learning a second language. The higher the motivation, the greater the love of acquisition. The student should be able to feel at home comfort in the school, and thus, his interest in the lessons can be increased. Besides, it is necessary that the teacher’s ability to control the class and establish excellent communication with the students. Essential factors such as these contribute to English language learning. The term’ input is the program in this sense. Another critical point is according to Krashen teaching is not enough at any challenging level; a student should grasp the data. That is, the curriculum must reach a child at its current level and challenge him/her with activities. Mainly, it is vital to ensure learners have the ability to advance to the next level to ensure they remain being inspired to learn. Another thing to remember, personalities also affect the learning style of children. This demonstrates more introverted learners to learn the language faster as they refuse to make mistakes. As an example, extroverted students are more likely to step out of the branch and use their newly acquired words. In particular, it is crucial to create an atmosphere where students recognize that errors are part of the learning process and that it is more important to speak than be flawless and ensure all personalities are active.

The educators have major tasks to create a favorable environment in the classroom.

First of all, it is necessary to come to the class on time, not to forget the course materials (valid for the student), to prepare for the course and also to make extra fun activities for the students when they can get bored and to attract them to the lesson again. The teacher should be able to help the students in the learning process under any circumstances, should be able to tell the subjects that they do not understand and answer the questions and not leave a question mark in the student’s mind. In order for children to love English, they contribute to the strengthening of language teaching in the classroom, at the same time with the help of extra-curricular activities and technology, rather than teaching English through books. The feedback is also valuable, often providing homework, answers to questions, and providing honest and motivating feedback during participation creates a relaxing atmosphere in the classroom. Moreover, the teacher should be more interested in students with disruptive behavior and help them. Not only the teacher but also the students have several responsibilities. In order to provide an optimal environment in the classroom, students are required to do the given homework, participate in the class, and study intensively. In this way, the lessons will be more enjoyable and instructive for both the teacher and the students.

In conclusion, learning English should start for students at an early age, and educators need to make language teaching likable and active by using efficient methods and techniques in the classroom. To point out, Turkey has achieved to contribute to lowering the age of English language learning to 2nd-year students. Learning English at a young age provides a great opportunity for the students, not only the grammar but also the pronunciation is critically affected. Teaching English can be aggravating for several reasons, and the apparent reason is that lecturing the lessons from books. More motivating, different, and entertaining activities can be activated in language teaching. Many of the educators should be aware of the importance of language teaching and frequently motivate students by giving feedback and telling them about the importance of language learning. In the future, particularly Turkey’s English education system need to modify into many different variations, to be more selective of teacher recruitment and starting from the 1st year of English instruction, assuming that it is necessary must be considered in such cases.

Excellent article. I have taught English in a few different countries and it’s been a great way to learn about their culture. Starting at a young age makes a big difference in learning and thinking in another language. Those who start young can understand more of the subtleties of the language.

    1. Yes, I totally agree with you, learning English from young ages always mean being one step ahead. Thank you for your comment:)
